Cloud engineering is a critical part of Reed Exhibitions' future. We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced  engineer to lead the Cloud Platform Team of 3-4 engineers. This is a hands on role with some leadership activities. This role will be focused on AWS primarily but will include Azure and OCI in the future. The role will involve developing and support cloud capabilities, allowing the business projects to take advantage of cloud computing as well as working to move the entire on-prem estate to the correct cloud platform. The role will also work closely with the Architecture team to ensure that the strategy and roadmap is understood and delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the AWS Cloud Platform
    • Responsible for maintaining and improving our Cloud hosted applications and services
    • Continuous improvement, orchestration and automation of hosted services and capabilities
    • Leveraging AWS best practices with multiple AWS accounts
    • Ensure support for the platform is managed working closely with our 3rd party outsourced vendor
    • Develop new capabilities as the technology evolves in AWS, Azure etc adding additional value to RX.

  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members
  • Responsible for providing technical and team leadership

Ideal candidate profile:

Core Skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (Ideally Certified)
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code build tools like Terraform
  • Experience with server configuration and automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • An understanding and appreciation of the DevOps culture
  • Experience using system monitoring tools such as Splunk and SolarWinds and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience using CI/CD tools and platforms e.g. bamboo
  • Knowledge of Azure or OCI would be beneficial
  • Proven web hosting experience in an enterprise environment – with a focus on AWS
  • Understanding of core security design patterns for Cloud, Server and network infrastructure
